Men's and Women's Cross Country

Led by junior Jenny Koeppel, the women's cross country team cruised to a ninth place finish in Saturday's Mid-American Conference Cross-Country Championships. The men's team finished tenth at the event. Koeppel, the only UB runner to earn All-MAC honors, finished ninth out of 106 runners. Joel Beatty paced the men's team, finishing 50th of 96 competitors. Next up for the teams are the NCAA Northeast Regionals, which will be held in Boston November 15th.

Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres battled the Ottawa Senators to a 1-1 tie Saturday night at the Corel Center in Ottawa. Martin Biron stopped 34 but was outdone by the Senators' Patrick Lalime, who stopped 37. James Patrick scored his first goal of the season for Buffalo, while the Senators Daniel Alfredsson scored a power play goal mid-way through the second to round out the scoring. The Sabres return home Wednesday to play the Thrashers.

UB Women's Swimming and Diving

The women's swimming and diving team opened their MAC schedule by dropping a 176-124 decision to the defending MAC Champion Miami RedHawks. The Bulls won the opening event, the 400-meter medley, with the team of Abby Delia, Julie Marcotte, Kahla Walkinshaw and Jennefer Brankovsky. On Saturday, the team faced off against the Ball State Cardinals and won 192-108. Brankovsky won three individual events for UB and the team took every event but the 100-meter breaststroke.
