UB's three Mock Trial teams competed against other Division I schools such as Cornell and Dartmouth at hosts Syracuse and Yale Universities over the weekend.
The three teams represented by UB's Mock Trial club were named the A, B and C teams. According to collegemocktrial.org, UB's A Team went 4-4 (meaning four ballots were won and four were lost) and the B Team went 2-6 at Syracuse, while the C Team went 3-5 at Yale.
"Overall, we won more ballots than last year," said Ryan Flaherty, club president and junior political science and legal studies major.
He said they competed well, but lost ballots sometimes by a matter of individual points.
"In round four, the A Team went up against Amherst College. We won one ballot by four points, and then lost the other one by one point. It was very, very close."
According to Flaherty, he is pleased by the club's performance but sees his competitive season coming to an end.
"I don't expect to get a bid [to nationals]," he said.
