SA President Peter Grollitsch and SA Treasurer John Martin state that they'll reject The Spectrum's petition. Let's look at the facts:
There is no such thing as an unbiased petition.
Spectrum students were not "bribed" to get petitions signed - they were asked to based on the fact that they, too, are members of the staff and have an equal stake in the paper's well being.
Regardless, SA has said it will violate the terms of its constitution if the petition is submitted by not accepting the changes made to its relationship with The Spectrum. If they can't follow their own constitution, how can we trust their word that they won't use their desired financial power over the newspaper to influence editorial content?
This is illegal, immoral and should reflect what your elected leaders are truly made of. E-mail Grollitsch and Martin at pag7@buffalo.edu and jjmartin@buffalo.edu and tell them what you think.
Petitions can still be signed in The Spectrum office, 132 Student Union.
