Men's Basketball

Reggie Witherspoon and Yassin Idbihi were the first Bulls to garner postseason awards on Monday. Witherspoon was named the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Coach of the Year and Idbihi was named to the Mid-American Conference All-Freshman Team.

Witherspoon was honored for his efforts in turning the Bulls from a 5-23 team a year ago into MAC powerhouse this year. He took the award over Southern Illinois' Matt Painter and High Point's Bart Lundy.

"When Witherspoon took over five years ago, few gave him much of chance to succeed. Five years later he is the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Coach of the Year," said the article.

Idbihi was one of five freshmen named to the MAC All-Freshman Team. He is averaging 9.8 points and 5.7 rebounds a game this season while starting 24 games.

Track and Field

Laura Olson, a senior on the women's track team has been selected to compete in the Indoor NCAA Championships. She is the first UB athlete to ever take part in the event.

She qualified for the meet by clearing a school and meet record height of 13-4.25 on Feb. 13 at the Armory Collegiate Meet in New York City.

Last season she finished 13th at the NCAA championships with a vault of 12-9.50.

Competition in the event starts at 6:35 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 12.
