Broken Pipe Temporarily Ceases Creekside Water Supply

A broken water pipe in town of Amherst lines left some Creekside Village residents without running water on Sunday.

Creekside staff member Shawn Parker confirmed that the water supply was interrupted over the weekend. The Erie County Water Authority said a maintenance worker quickly repaired the pipe and service was restored by Sunday evening.

John Abeel, a UB law student and Creekside resident, noticed that his water was not running on Sunday afternoon.

"It was on and off through Sunday night," Abeel said. "I couldn't do laundry or shower, but it wasn't a big deal."

Parker said the broken pipe was located off the UB campus and a proper utility authority handled the problem.

"It is not the school's fault, so who cares?" said Abeel.

Creekside Village, which opened less than five months ago, primarily houses graduate students.
