I know it costs money to recruit a good president for UB, but $220,000? Nine students could go to college for four years with $220,000. A person who makes minimum wage ($5.15 per hour) will have to work 22 years, or one half of their adult life, for $220,000. A person who makes $10 per hour will have to work 11 years, or one quarter of their adult life, for $220,000.
Let me make a few suggestions for the recruiting committee when it comes to wining and dining the next president for UB - a suggestion that would cost a lot less than $60,000.
McDonalds, Burger King and Wendy's all have a dollar menu and they will throw in water with a lemon wedge for free! Also, there is the homegrown Mighty Taco in Buffalo, which is very reasonable.
There is also a Motel 6 right around the corner from UB, and the last time I stayed at a Motel 6, they were as reasonable as a motel can be (between $20 and $40 per night).
The growing gap between the rich and the poor is always a concern!
