Bringing their record to 9-12 on the season, the UB softball team split a pair of games at Canisius against the Golden Griffins on Thursday afternoon.
Canisius got the early jump on Buffalo in the first game by scoring two runs in the third, and then two more in the fifth. Buffalo would not score until the sixth inning and the final read 4-1.
Despite the loss, Breanne Nasti delivered a dominating performance, going 4-4.
Stacey Evans struck out eleven batters and only allowed one hit in the second game of the doubleheader to give the Bulls the 3-0 win.
Buffalo kicks off the Mid-American Conference schedule this weekend with a trip to Miami of Ohio for a three-game set.

Stacey Evans, the ace of the UB Softball team's pitching staff, was named the Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week and MAC East Pitcher of the Week. Off the field the junior management major has a 3.62, good enough to earn her the Scholar Athlete honor.
On the field Evans posted a 0.91 ERA in 23.0 innings while going 1-1 at the San Diego Classic. She was?Ae? also able to pick up her first shutout of the season against Dartmouth. She also picked up her first save of the season against San Diego.
