Women's Swimming


Jennefer Brankovsky has been named the Mid-American Conference's women's swimmer of the week. This is the first swimmer of the week award given out by the MAC this season. Brankovsky led the Bulls in their comeback against St. Bonaventure last Wednesday with victories in three events. In addition to her stellar efforts in the meet against St. Bonaventure, Brankovsky won three events against Siena the previous Saturday. She holds the fastest time in the MAC so far in this young season in the 200-meter individual medley, with a time of 2:09.22. She also has the third fastest time in the conference in the 500-meter freestyle with 5:07.94.



Men's Soccer


UB sophomore goalie Daniel Bell was named to the 2004 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District I University Division MenOs Soccer Team. Bell, an undecided major with a 3.59 grade point average, is the first-ever UB menOs soccer player to earn the honor. The sophomore has started 14 games this season for the Bulls, recording 48 saves and four shutouts. He also owns a 1.43 goals against average this season.



Club Rugby


The University at BuffaloOs Mad Turtles will be playing a home game for the National Rugby Union (NRU) quarterfinals. The Mad Turtles finished second in the New York State Rugby Conference and the team is seeded fourth in the NRU. BuffaloOs opponent, Connecticut, finished third in the New England Rugby Football Union and is seeded fifth in the NRU tournament. Other matches going on in the NRU quarterfinals include Cornell against Boston College and Syracuse versus Dartmouth. UBOs match is set for 1 p.m. on the field across Frontier Road from the Ellicott Complex, near the tennis courts.
