A State Supreme Court Judge issued a temporary restraining order against UB, barring implementation of all decisions put forth on May 6.
The June 26 TRO comes as part of a lawsuit that Sub-Board I’s general counsel, Joshua Lippes, filed against the university. It states that UB is “temporarily restrained” from removing SBI as the student governments’ fiscal agent, ceasing operation of SBI programs and from transitioning SBI Medical Insurance office and Pharmacy to UB.
The TRO requires UB to rescind any decisions which have already been implemented.
UB said in a statement that it “is reviewing the matter with its legal counsel” and “strongly believes” that appointing FSA as the new fiscal agent is in the best interest of UB students.
The TRO calls for a case hearing at the Erie County Courthouse on July 24.
This is a developing story.
