UB University Police unsure what set off fire alarm in Student Union

University Police is unsure what set off the fire alarm in the Student Union Tuesday night.

Lieutenant David Urbanek said UPD patrolled the kitchen areas in the Union but could not find anything that would have set the alarm off. He said it's possible there was a malfunction with the alarm.

The grill at Moe's was often the cause of alarm to go off last semester, but UPD said Moe's had not even began to clean the grill at the time of the alarm Tuesday night.

The alarm went off at approximately 9 p.m. and the building remained evacuated for about 10 minutes.
