Quick Hits: Bulls decorated with conference honors

Football

Senior linebacker Khalil Mack was invited to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl. Mack is the second Bull ever to be invited to play in the game and the first since 1964.

Mack recently set the school record for sacks in a career and is in the top 10 of two NCAA career records (tackles for loss and forced fumbles).

On Monday, senior running back Branden Oliver was named MAC East Offensive Player of the Week. Oliver rushed for a UB Division IA record 249 yards and two touchdowns last week against Ohio. It is the third time this season Oliver has received the honor.

Volleyball

Senior libero Kelly Svoboda was named MAC East Defensive Player of the Week and sophomore outside hitter Tahleia Bishop was named MAC East Offensive Player of the Week.

Svoboda set the school Division I single-match record on Saturday with 43 digs. She also broke the school single-season record with 580 digs and the career record with 1,889 digs.

Bishop had a career-high 26 kills on Thursday night against Akron and added 25 more against Toledo on Saturday.

Swimming and Diving

Junior Jessica Powers was named the MAC Swimmer of the Week for her three victories in the Bulls' victory over Colgate on Saturday. Powers won the 1,000-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle.

It is the first time Powers has won the honor in her career.
