On Monday afternoon, the Mid-American Conference announced its award winners for the previous week. Two Bulls earned Player of the Week awards for their efforts.
For the women's soccer team, senior goalkeeper Ainsley Wheldon won her second MAC Defensive Player of the Week award. The Bulls were 1-0-2 last week and Wheldon didn't allow a goal.
Wheldon has not allowed a goal in four games, a 422-minute span of game action dating back to the Bulls' second game of the season against St. Bonaventure on Aug. 30.
The women's soccer team will host Niagara on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in its final non-conference game of the season.
The volleyball team had its first award winner of the season, with senior libero Kelly Svoboda winning MAC East Defensive Player of the Week.
Svoboda averaged 6.6 digs per set in three matches over the weekend and had two 20-dig performances. Svoboda is currently No. 1 in the MAC with 5.69 digs per set. She has been a key part of a Bulls defense that has held opponents to a nation-best .071 hitting percentage.
The Bulls return home this weekend for the Blue and White Classic. Their first match is Friday at 7 p.m.
