I started writing for the Spectrum in the fall of 2008, mostly by accident. I always loved writing, mainly fiction, and I wanted to pursue it even though my major is history.
After combing through the list of English courses, I found one that looked harmless enough despite the fact that it had no course description. Luckily it was The Spectrum and I had unknowingly made one of the best decisions of my college career.
After nearly transferring back to New Jersey after being ill for half of freshman year, the chance to write for the Arts Desk of The Spectrum was one of the main reasons I stayed. Where else could I not only get to write, but also to write on some of my favorite subjects- music, plays and concerts- while also getting to learn editing and journalism skills?
While I never thought I would enjoy writing something other then fiction, seven semesters later I rarely remember writing something that isn't a review.
