Chips lose in national finals

After becoming Mid-Atlantic Region Champions and gaining a berth to the Varsity Vocals International Championship of A Cappella for the first time in 15 years, the Buffalo Chips couldn't seal the deal in New York City.

At Lincoln Center on Saturday, the Chips sang songs such as Owl City's "Fireflies," but their performance did not earn them placement in the top three.

The final statistics are as follows:

1st: University of Southern California SoCal VoCals (445 points)

2nd: Berklee College of Music Pitch Slapped (376 points)

3rd: University of Georgia Accidentals (350 points)

Outstanding Arrangement: Christine Gallagher and Hannah Juliano of Pitch Slapped for "Got to Get You Into My Life"

Outstanding Choreography: The SoCal VoCals

Outstanding Soloist: Langdon Quin of the University of Georgia Accidentals for "Come Together"

Outstanding Vocal Percussion: Schafer Gray of the Accidentals
