Stephen Marth, a South Buffalo native, never knew he would pursue journalism as a career. Following his graduation in 2006 from City Honors School, Marth came to the University at Buffalo with plans to graduate with a political science degree.
After changing his mind following his first PSC class, Marth changed his major to communication, where he accidentally registered for a class with The Spectrum. It was then that his life was changed forever.
During his time at The Spectrum, Marth was promoted to Assistant Sports Editor and Senior Sports Editor. He was then elected by the 2008-2009 Editorial Board to the position of Editor-In-Chief.
In addition to heading UB's independent student publication, Marth has written for CBS Sports, The Bleacher Report, UWire.com and Sports & Leisure Magazine. He also helped ABC News cover the tragic crash of Continental Connection Flight # 3407 in Clarence Center last year.
Marth was recently hired as a news assistant for YNN Buffalo, Time Warner Cable's 24-hour news station. He plans on working there following graduation in May 2010.
