David Sanchirico grew up loving sports and reading the Sports section of the Albany Times Union every day. When he was interning for the TU after sophomore year, he realized his dream was coming true.
Sanchirico entered Buffalo with no career path in mind, but as a sophomore he started as a Sports Writer and has been with The Spectrum ever since. The Albany native moved up the ranks quickly, becoming an assistant sports editor after one semester and being promoted to sports editor the next. He was promoted to Senior Sports Editor in the Fall '09 semester, and is now a Managing Editor.
Throughout this time, Sanchirico has gained experience at many places. Along with his Albany Times Union internship, he has edited for bleacherreport.com and has provided freelance pieces for many other Web sites. He has covered New York Giants Training Camp, the MAAC Tournament, and many other glorified sporting events.
Upon graduation, Sanchirico plans to attend graduate school to hone his journalism skills and become a better, more creative writer.
