Bahn and Harijanto named Athletes of the Week
Junior first baseman Shivam Bahn of the baseball team and junior Denise Harijanto of the women's tennis team were named Buffalo's Athletes of the Week on Monday.
Bahn hit .400 with four runs during the baseball team's five-game stretch this past week. In Buffalo's 18-9 win against St.Bonaventure, Bahn went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and three runs scored. He also hit his first home run of the season against Northern Illinois.
Junior Denise Harijanto of the women's tennis team went 4-0 in her matches against Mid-American Conference foes Eastern Michigan and Toledo. Harijanto is 10-2 from the singles spot this season and 17-3 overall. The Bulls are currently on an eight-game winning streak, which is a school record.
Barr and Waldron win MAC honors
Coming off the softball team's performances in Florida and Virginia, junior pitcher Sharon Barr and freshman infielder Kristin Waldron were honored by the Mid-American Conference. Barr was named MAC East Division Pitcher of the Week and Waldron earned MAC East Division Player of the Week.
Barr went 2-0 over the weekend. She went the distance twice and held opponents to 10 hits and one run in 20.0 innings pitched. Barr also struck out 15 batters and posted an impressive 0.45 ERA. Barr also contributed at the plate with three hits, including a double and a home run.
With a .467 batting average over the weekend, Waldron led the charge for the Bulls. She went 7-for-15 with two triples and eight runs batted in. Three of her eight RBIs came in an 8-0 win over Winston-Salem State.
