In memory of Jonah Dreskin

My column for today was going to be about letting loose and having fun during spring break. However, after Jonah Dreskin's tragic passing on Wednesday night, I felt it was only appropriate to dedicate the short space I am given here every couple of weeks to commemorate the life and legacy of the young student.

Since I don't personally know Jonah, I decided the best way to accomplish this would be to let the words and memories of Jonah's friends celebrate and remember him. It is my greatest hope that all students will come together to find solace in each other's arms during this tragic time.

"You were the sweetest and most genuine person I ever met. I cannot believe this happened. I know we lost touch over the last year or so, but you left a mark on my life that can never be taken away. Rest in peace, my friend."

"I know we've lost touch recently, but from the day I met you four years ago in NFTY, you were always that person to light up the room with your smile and personality. I can't believe such a terrible tragedy would happen to such a good person. You will always be missed, my friend. Rest in peace."

"I will miss you a lot man. We always had a friendship that involved laughter and smiles 100 percent of the time, and I will always remember you that way. Whether it was singing a wildly inappropriate song during a talent show or sarcastically talking about people on the street in unison, you were always a great friend."

"When I first met you in NFTY two years ago, I knew you were a special person. You were a good friend and one I will never forget. Rest in peace."

"I love you so much. I miss you so much. You will be in my heart, forever and always. You will never be forgotten."

"This is so unreal. You were such a beautiful person inside and out. I can't imagine this. It's just not right. I miss you so much. I love you even more. May you rest in peace."

"I wish I had gotten closer to you at camp. From what I know, you are one of the sweetest guys I've met. You always include people and try to make people feel welcome. I will always remember you and your hilarious sense of humor."

"Rest in peace, man. I only knew you for that summer but it was a great one. You were such an amazing person and you will be missed."

"I'm going to miss you so much. I wish I had more words to say, but I never really was any great with words. I'll always love you."

The hearts and thoughts of the members of The Spectrum editorial board go out Jonah's friends and family and all who knew and loved him.
