???On Tuesday, Buffalo City Court Judge James A. McLeod ordered former Buffalo Police officer Monte R. Montalvo to perform 200 hours of community service at the Buffalo City Mission for striking his neighbor.
???With the sentencing of community service, Montalvo was spared jail time for the incident on a misdemeanor conviction.
???Montalvo will be on probation for the next year and must complete his community service hours within the next six months. He must also continue receiving professional counseling and pay the victim $118 for his broken eyeglasses.
???Montalvo faces a trial later this month for allegedly sexually assaulting a 19-year-old female UB student in an incident unrelated to this conviction.
He met the student while working security at a fraternity party, according to a police report. Montalvo is accused of bringing her back to his apartment after the party and forcibly performing oral sex on the woman.
