Police rescue South Campus stray

University Police Officer David Hoyden reunited a family with their beloved canine on Friday.

???Someone reported a stray dog roaming around South Campus at 5:50 a.m.

???Officer Hoyden responded to the call, and was greeted by a friendly Husky with a nametag that read Camaro Van Halen, but no identification tag.

???The officer let the dog sleep in the back of a patrol car and called the Amherst Police Department to find that there was a missing dog reported by a resident of Arcade Avenue in Amherst on Thursday.

???Gerald Schoenle, chief of the University Police Department, said everything ended up working out.

???"The dog was in no danger, and was happily reunited at 6:28 a.m.," Schoenle said.
