Students, faculty and staff are invited to speak their minds about UB's plan to decrease greenhouse gas emissions during an inaugural forum next Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Student Union Theater.
In March 2007, President John B. Simpson signed the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment, a plan for U.S. higher education institutions to combat climate change.
The Fall Sustainability Forum will highlight several aspects of UB's plan to become climate neutral.
Robert Shibley, Environmental Stewardship Committee (ESC) chairman and senior adviser to the president for Campus Planning and Design, will speak about ESC's agenda and the president's climate commitment.
Afterwards, attendees will be able to choose discussion sessions related to the ESC's six subcommittees, which include energy, transportation, information technology, materials, research teaching and public service and outreach communications.
An environmentally-friendly lunch will be available after the sessions.
Students interested in attending can register at www.ubevents.org/regengine/event_page.php.
