Armed robbery ensues on South Campus

An armed robbery occurred in the Niagara Frontier Transit Authority (NFTA) Park & Ride Parking Lot on South Campus Wednesday night - the most recent in a string of at least nine other robberies and carjackings in the area in the past week.

The suspect, a male, who was accompanied by four or five other males, approached the victim, who is not a UB student, around 9:45 p.m.

According to a news release from the UB News Center, the suspect showed a knife and demanded cash. He was last seen running westbound on Main Street.

The suspect is described as a black male, 18 to 20 years old, approximately 6-feet-2-inches tall, with a thin frame. He was wearing a Carhartt-style jacket, a black knit hat and dark pants at the time of the incident.

According to the news release, Buffalo Police will be increasing patrols in the University Heights area this weekend. Students are reminded to avoid walking alone at night and to use the Anti-Rape Task Force services.
