Stupidity ruins perfectly nice day

I have seen the most absolutely colossal waste of money on campus. It is a new electronic sign, the scrolling marquis type, built into the side of a campus shuttle.

You know what it said? It said 'Have a nice day.' How much did 'have a nice day' cost? I bet you could find some art majors who would do that for free with some markers and paint. Why did UB waste money on that stupid sign? This is the kind of crap that makes our student fees go up. How about instead of buying a stupid have a nice day sign, we hire some drivers who know how to read a watch and can do their route on time. How hard is it to drive a bus in a big circle all day? How can I have a nice day when I am suffering an aneurysm every time I wait for a bus that is five minutes late and then shows up and proceeds to mock me with a big stupid electronic Have a Nice Day?

I want to know who is responsible for allowing this to happen. It's not the person with the stupid idea that is the problem, it's the ten other people shaking their heads saying, "That's a fantastic idea...that's outstanding!"

This sign, like the one in front of the Student Union, is a symptom of the creeping plague of fiscal stupidity overwhelming the management of our school. We don't need a bigger budget. We just need the one we have to be managed properly.

Have a nice day.
