Coulter counters liberal monolith

Letter to the Editor

This is in response to George Zornick's predictable and tiresome article concerning the Ann Coulter visit ("Coulter shock," March 2). You demonstrated precisely why it is that Bush won the election and the people of your ilk lost. You began your column stating you were nervous that Ann was visiting "my campus." Believe it or not, it is "our" campus; and this may shock a college-paper columnist, but conservatives do actually exist in the student body.

You do not speak for all of us and it is reprehensible that a more evident conservative or differing opinion cannot be heard through our typical liberal and most amateur college paper. As far as the event itself goes, you may be right in that the event will be one sided, but it will not be because facts are exclusively part of Reno's arsenal. Coulter will provide facts with reason, a trait greatly absent in the idealistic liberal youth. This is why Coulter was invited to the campus, why she is a prominent conservative pundit and this is why she will successfully make her case against Reno. I do not intend to be abrasive in my remarks, I think any political interest demonstrated by the youth is advantageous, I only wish it was more than one political monolith.
