Eagles splash to win

UB's men's swimming and diving team lost a tough match to Eastern Michigan on Saturday at Alumni Arena's Natatorium by a final score of 146-80. Individually, only two Bulls were able to claim events.

Luke Adams was successful in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing the race in a final time of 1 minute, 56.47 seconds while Jon Yarger won the 500-yard freestyle race in a time of 4 minutes, 48.53 seconds.

The Bulls also scored a first place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The relay squad was made up of Yarger, Kurt Bessel, Aaron Moessinger, and Dustin Hui. The foursome raced to a first place finish, recording a time of 2 minutes, 58.46 seconds.

With the win, the Eagles improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the Mid-American Conference. The Bulls drop to 3-3 overall, and 0-3 in the MAC.

The meet was UB's last opportunity to post a conference victory in a dual meet this season, as their next match is against St. Bonaventure on Feb. 5. Following the meet verses the Bonnies, the Bulls will compete in the ECAC championships, followed by the MAC tournament, and finally the NCAA championships, held at the end of March.
