UB was able to hold onto a slim four-point lead as they defeated the Ohio Bobcats on Saturday, 119-115. The victory was the first for the Bulls on the young season. It brings the team to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the Mid-American Conference. Ohio still has yet to record a victory this season. The Bobcats are 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the MAC.
Mark Sy won three individual events for the Bulls, including victories in two long distance events: the 1000-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle. In addition to those victories, he posted a season-best time in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:53.83.
Another bright spot for the Bulls was Jeff Hurst, who won two events and had a season best time in the 200-yard individual medley.
Patrick Lee and Luke Adams were also strong for the Bulls. Lee won the three-meter diving event and missed victory in the one-meter diving competition by less than five points. Luke Adams won the 200-yard backstroke for the second time this season.
The Bulls will be back in the water for competition again on Dec. 3 in Akron for the Akron Invitational.
