Shafting the Maniacs

Letter To The Editor

Last season, the Buffalo Bulls men's basketball team brought a few things back to Buffalo that many thought were lost. Hope. Desire. Drive. Success. The feat was not easy but the results were un-"bull"-ievable. The guys shot, slammed, and hustled their way to the second round of the Mid-American Conference tournament. All of this was done while riding on the roaring Sea of Blue.

The fans were remarkable last season. With the new renovations of Alumni Arena, the majority of the Mighty Maniacs now are forced to watch the game from behind a basket. A select few will be able to watch the game from seat behind the visiting team's family and supporters while an additional small group will watch from the far section behind the home bench. The people that had the greatest impact on team morale, that pushed the guys that extra step, are being booted from where they made their statement. The Sea of Blue is being split as if it were the Red Sea.

By dividing the Sea of Blue, the Mighty Maniacs will have to work that much harder to make their voices heard to have similar impact to the one they had last year. While we gave it all our last year, we'll have to do the same this year and then some. Maniacs, be prepared. Visitors, watch out.
