Athletes of the Week
The University at Buffalo named their Male and Female Athletes of the Week, with honors going to UB soccer players Mirnes Biscevic and Natalia Crofut.
Biscevic, a senior defense/midfielder on the UB men's soccer team scored the winning goal in UB's 2-1 overtime victory over Bowling Green on Sunday. The victory was the team's first win in the Mid-American Conference since Oct. 20, 2002. Going into the contest against Bowling Green, the Bulls owned an 11 game losing streak in the MAC.
Crofut, a junior forward/midfielder for the women's soccer team had something to do with every goal scored for the Bulls over the weekend. The Bulls tied defending MAC champion Western Michigan on Friday, 2-2 and lost to Northern Illinois on Sunday, 2-1. Crofut scored one goal against WMU and assisted on the Bulls' other goal in the tie. Crofut also scored a goal in the first half against Northern Illinois, but it was in vain as the Bulls lost 2-1. Crofut's stellar offensive play over the weekend gave her 12 points on the season. This is the third time she has reached this mark in her collegiate career.
Bulls Jerseys Finally Made Available
Just missing their anticipated June 1 release, the University at Buffalo has made UB jerseys available on www.shopubbulls.com". The UB Alumni Association and the Division of Athletics came together to make the merchandise available to Bulls' fans. Proceeds from sales of all merchandise from www.shopubbulls.com" go to support alumni programs and athletic programs at the University at Buffalo.
