Men's soccer

Lee Catchpole scored his first career goal on a penalty kick in the second overtime period to give the UB men's soccer team a 3-2 edge over Rider University last Friday. Sophomore Andrae Clarke and team-leading goal scorer Braden Byler each added a goal to the scoreboard for UB during regulation, but the Bulls were unable to hold onto the lead, giving up two goals to Rider's Sandro DeCristofaro in the final 4:07 of regulation to send the game into overtime. Goalkeeper Daniel Bell registered three saves on the night for the Bulls, who improved to 5-0-1 on the season with Friday's win.

On Sunday, the UB men's soccer team used a two-goal performance by freshman Lee Catchpole to remain undefeated on the 2004 season with a 4-2 win over non-league opponent St. Francis (PA) (1-3) on Sunday. Sophomores Andrae Clarke and Brian Knapp both added goals to seal the victory for UB (6-0-1), while goalkeepers Daniel Bell and Brandon Foley combined to make two saves for the Bulls.

UB will put their undefeated record on the line Wednesday at 4 p.m. when they travel to face cross-town foe Niagara.

Women's tennis

The UB women's tennis team notched their first victory of the season with a win over Cleveland State on Sunday in Cleveland. UB (1-0) swept the doubles matches, only losing seven total games to the Vikings (2-1) in the three matches. The Bulls went on to claim the top five singles matches, with Miglena Nenova, Andreea Novaceanu, Kristen Ortman, Katrin Fischer and Tina Jacob all successful in singles competition.
