The Buffalo Bulls men's tennis team pulled off a victory in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Thursday, defeating the No. 5 seeded Toledo Rockets 4-1.
UB, the No. 5 seed, took the doubles point with Randy Rocchio and Nick Zieziula's 8-3 victory and Albert Alant and Yules Hadisbroto's 8-6 win. After clinching the doubles point, the Bulls led 1-0 heading into singles play where Rocchio, Mike Rockman, and Hadisbroto all were victorious.
Buffalo now plays No. 1 seed Western Michigan in the second round today.
The UB women were not as successful; they fell to the Rockets by a score of 4-2 in the first round of the women's MAC Tournament.
UB Football
Mark Graham, a former safety on the UB football team will be one person from UB with a vested interest in the NFL draft this weekend.
Graham ended his UB career earning a spot on the All-MAC second team defense and he was also slated to play in January's Gridiron Classic, which he sat out with a hip injury.
Graham, a 5-foot, 11-inch, 198-pounder, is not expected to be taken in the draft, but could possibly sign a free-agent contract after draft day. ESPN.com has Graham listed on their Draft Tracker, although he is listed as being from Buffalo State, with a score of 20 on a scale out of 100, and Sean Taylor being a 99.
Graham hopes to join Ed Ellis, a 1997 graduate who recently joined the NY Giants, as a former UB Bull in the NFL.
