Women's Tennis

Miglena Nenova of the UB women's tennis team was named Mid-American Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday for her inspiring play last week.

Since its induction into the MAC in 1998, Buffalo had never received the honor in women's tennis.

Trailing 6-1, and 3-1 in the second set, Nenova pulled a comeback out of nowhere against the MAC's top-ranked tennis player, Irina Strembitsky. Nenova was able to win the second set 6-4 and the third 6-2 against the then 114th nationally ranked star.

The win propelled UB to a 4-3 victory over Akron. Nenova, a freshman, is 18-5 overall on the season.

Softball

UB softball's Stacey Evans was named the MAC East Division Pitcher of the Week this week in light of her dominating performances as of late. It was the second time this season she was bestowed with the honor, and the fifth time for her career.

Last weekend Evans dominated Akron, shutting them out twice to earn her Bulls a pair of victories against the Zips. In all, she allowed only five hits in the two games in holding them to a .109 batting average.
