Hazing is the only rite of passage into manhood left to the boys of America short of joining the military. There is nothing wrong with a little abuse and humiliation among friends. I don't think one needs to go so far as to risk life and limb, but rolling in cold mud, getting sworn at and doing push-ups is good for you. If you can't hack that little bit of transient abuse, how will you overcome a real situation? Who wants to be friends with someone who is so resistant to building character they cry even thinking about pain?
Fraternities are kept alive for the sake of preserving masculinity. Without masculinity there is no femininity, and that is why chivalry is dead. Chivalry is dead because the feminists killed it. The restriction of fraternities to merely swearing people in and collecting their dues is the castration of America. Boys need a rite of passage, lest we become a nation of weak victims. And women, think about this: do you really respect a man who you think can't handle adversity? Other men don't.
There is nothing wrong with equality, but don't forget that you can't escape biology. There is nothing wrong with being a man or a woman. Boys need to build more character. Playing video games and drinking beer will not do this. Being submissive to the feminine trend will not do this. Boys, stand up for yourselves and tell the world that men need to be strong and humble and the only way to achieve this is by hazing. Guys have done this to all new members to their circles and it won't stop now.
And don't let chivalry be forgotten. If you want to hold the door for your girl, then do it. Remember, when the ship goes down, people will still be yelling "women and children first."
