Football

The Buffalo Bulls' football team has announced their 2004 schedule which is highlighted by the home opener against the Syracuse Orangemen on September 11.

UB opens its schedule on the road in a rare early Mid-American Conference game against the Eastern Michigan Eagles. The reason for the MAC game being so early is because of the season finale in Connecticut which coincides with both the UB men's and women's basketball teams playing games against UConn that same weekend.

Buffalo also plays against Temple, Ohio, Central Florida, Akron, Miami of Ohio, Marshall, Kent State and Central Michigan. The full schedule can be viewed on buffalobulls.com.

"I think it is a good schedule and we are excited about it," said UB head coach Jim Hofher. "For us, it has challenges. We'll open on the road against a conference opponent and have three of the first four games on the road. We have a tremendous home opener against Syracuse which should be the biggest game in the history of Western New York college football and the most anticipated home game in UB's modern history."

Track and Field

Having left for the Florida Relays yesterday, the UB outdoor track team could be running on momentum spilled over from Saturday's performance at the Virginia Ram Invitational. The races will be held over two days in Gainesville, Fl.

Winning nine events overall in jumping, throwing, sprinting, and distance; Buffalo has all the weapons for a balanced track record.

The women's squad dominated the track winning six events. Pacing the women was Allison Laske, winner of two events. Sarah Vance led all shot putters, and Jennifer Anderson from Brooklyn, NY topped off discus.

While the Bulls' basketball team didn't book a trip to the NCAA tournament, at least one Bull has. Laske twice set the school record in the 800-meters last week with a time of 2:07.62, earning her a NCAA championship spot.
