SA Entertainment

Letter to the Editor

I am writing concerning your editorial on Student Association Entertainment, "SA Entertainment More Efficient, Well-funded," in the Nov. 17 issue. In an obvious attempt to get back on SA's good side after last week's unjustifiably negative coverage, you claim that the creation of SA Entertainment has improved the student events situation.

What strikes me as odd is that all that are of the above opinion never give any good reasons as to why this is allegedly so. All I get as reasons are empty management terms such as "streamlining," "synergy" and claims boasting that the same amount of funding as was used for events before and "superior leadership" has brought us better events.

In reality, however, the staff of SA Entertainment that really makes a difference was all taken from Sub-Board I and those allegedly bigger events were only made possible by taking away money from student clubs, SA's largest service.

This proves that the alleged improvements are not the result of SA's power grab, but mere luck made possible by reallocating even more funds. Combine this with the often shoddy and delayed promotion of their films and similar events and it becomes clear that SA Entertainment is in no way an improvement over past years but a clear deterioration in the quality of service.
