Wrestling

The Bulls had a split on Saturday at Eastern Michigan, defeating the host Eagles 19-16, but falling to Northern Illinois 31-6. On Sunday Buffalo fell to the Bobcats in Ohio 16-16, with Ohio winning the tiebreaker.

Kyle Cermina and Ryan Bentley were the lone Bulls to record wins against both teams. Cermina defeated NIU's James Olivia by decision, and Bentley topped the Huskies Oliver Vazquez, also by decision.

Michael Sebaaly, Mike Trotta, Labe Black, and Gary Cooper all won their matches against Eastern Michigan.

On Sunday Sebaaly and Black posted the only Bulls victories in the first six matches. UB then went on to win three straight before losing the heavyweight match. With the score tied at 16, tiebreaker criteria was used to decide a winner. With both teams getting one major decision each, the tiebreaker went to near falls, the only one of which was recorded by Ohio's Jake Percival.

Buffalo finishes the season 9-6, 1-4 in the MAC. Cerminara finishes the season 30-9, 11-2 in dual meets and 4-1 against MAC opponents. Cooper finished the season with a team-best dual meet mark 13-2 and finished his UB career with 39 dual meet victories, which is third best all-time. Bentley career dual meet wins is now 36, which is 11th place all-time.

The Bulls will next compete in the MAC Championships on Mar. 8-9 at Central Michigan University

Buffalo Destroyers

The Destroyers forced five turnovers and returned two onsides kicks for touchdowns as they beat the Georgia Force 63-43 Saturday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Buffalo improves its record to 3-1, their best start after four games in franchise history.

Tim Carey finished 16 of 25 for 184 yards and four touchdowns. Gunnard Twyner earned Game MVP honors with 10 receptions for 131 yards and three scores. Jarrail Jackson picked up Ironman of the Game with four catches for 47 yards and a touchdown. He returned three kicks back for 51 yards and had an interception.

The Destroyers return home to play the Chicago Rush on Saturday, March 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the HSBC Arena.
