Athletes of the Week

Labe Black, of the wrestling team, was named by the university as the Male Athlete of the Week. He scored a 6-4 victory over Central Michigan's David Bolyard, ranked 10th in the nation, with a takedown in the final 10 seconds of the 157-pound match.

Faith Thompson of the women's track and field team is the Female Athlete of the Week. She won two events in helping the Bulls to the team title at the Colgate Class of '32 Invitational.

"I think this is the most ambitious schedule UB has ever had," said head coach Jim Hofher. "We are playing a Big East opponent in Rutgers on the road, the defending co-champion of the Big Ten at Iowa, a rugged Eastern Division schedule in the MAC and we play the two superior teams in the West Division (Toledo and Northern Illinois). It will be a great challenge for our team and our program, and we are looking forward to it."
