Baseball

UB defeated Niagara University in the bitter cold Thursday afternoon 15-4 at Niagara's Bobo Field. The Bulls had five-run outbursts in both the third and eighth innings. It was the most runs the team has scored this season.

Junior pitcher Kyle Swiatocha (1-0) got the win in relief for Buffalo. He faced six batters, retiring them all and striking out three. Mark McMahon earned his first save for pitching the final three innings of the game.

The Bulls were scheduled to play a four-game series in Buffalo against Kent State this past weekend, but due to poor weather the games were either postponed or moved. Two games were played at Kent State Sunday (look for the full story in Wednesday's edition of The Spectrum), and two more will be played in Buffalo on April 16.

Women's Tennis

Buffalo lost both of their MAC matches this weekend, falling to Western Michigan 7-0 Friday, and to Northern Illinois 6-1 Saturday. The Bulls lost all 17 of the contested matches over the weekend. Their only win came via default at sixth singles against NIU.

Kent State

The MAC men's basketball champions finished the season ranked No. 12 in the USA Today/ ESPN Coaches' Poll. The Golden Flashes advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament.
