For several mid-major team's, such as the MAC's Ball State, Butler from the Horizon and Utah State from the Big West, Sunday represented a day of March sadness; the day their bubbles burst and they were voted off the island and exiled to the NCAA's version of basketball purgatory, otherwise known as the NIT. Never have three letters carried the same stigma and ominous sense of foreboding since . the BCS.
For others, they were given a second life and granted an invite to the most prestigious tournament in all of sports. Boston College, Utah and Missouri were three of the last teams to be given an at large bid. With the field of 64, er 65 teams announced, The Spectrum was wondering who can make sense of all this Madness?
For whatever student that can prognosticate and pick the most games correctly, there will be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. While the NCAA champions will receive worldwide recognition and glory, the winner of this contest will receive some George Washingtons - 50 to be exact - as well as his or her name and picture on the front page of The Spectrum. Just drop off all entries (one per customer) to the Spectrum office, located at 132 Student Union.
