Coheed and Cambria: Spilling Secrets at the Sphere

Concept albums can "make or break" a band, but Coheed and Cambria pull it off with such seamlessness and craft that one can almost forget "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3" is one.The New York City-based quartet, playing at the Sphere tonight with Rainer Maria and Funeral For A Friend, center their music on a storyline involving two lovers - none other than Coheed and Cambria - and their adventures in what drummer Josh Eppard describes as "a dark, post-apocalyptic world."The storyline, however, takes a backseat to the frenetic, stylish music.

A Disjointed Effort

The Coral, a young six-man band originating from a small town on England's west coast, may have the right idea for rising to mainstream stardom, but the band falls far short of being an indie rock standout.While The Coral's sound is a unique blend of soft rock and folk, they have a long way to go to effectively create a solid style and identity; their music often seems unrefined and shaky.
