Buffalo Grapplers Top Binghamton

Filling the line-up with mostly new wrestlers and keeping errors to a minimum were the ingredients that propelled the University at Buffalo's wrestling team to a 24-13 victory over Binghamton University on Tuesday night in Alumni Arena at their opening dual meet.UB freshman Mark McKnight started the meet for the Bulls as he pinned his opponent, Victor Destefano in a time of 4:03, during the 125-pound match.

Men's Swimming Kicks Past Ohio

As the saying goes, some things never change, but for UB swimming and diving something did in fact change.The Buffalo men's swimming and diving team broke a long standing streak this past weekend as they traveled to Ohio University and beat the Bobcats 124-119, making this the first time that a Buffalo team has defeated Ohio University (0-2, 0-2 Mid-American Conference) at their pool.The intensity began with the opening event, as the relay team of UB sophomores Jeff Hurst and Kevin Gatley, along with juniors Jon Yarger and Aviv Oren, rose to the occasion and won the 400-yard Medley Relay in a time of 3:32.09.

Bulls Tune Up Against Cornell

With the Mid-American Conference Tournament looming, the women's soccer team wanted to tune up their game in the season finale against Cornell University.With a 3-2 victory over Cornell, the Bulls concluded their regular season Wednesday night at Berman Field with a seasonal record of 11-7-1 overall (6-5-1 MAC), and a secure spot in the MAC tournament playoffs, which begin Nov.

Strong Start Off the Blocks for Women's Swimming and Diving

The University at Buffalo's women's swimming and diving team began their 2003-2004 season with a victory, as they out-swam Siena College in a 179-74 victory on Saturday morning in Alumni Arena.Buffalo added nine new freshman to their 16 returning women, making their team more powerful than the Bulls' swimming and diving team has been in many years.

Communication Breakdown

Coming into Sunday's match with Ball State, the reigning Mid-American Conference champions, the UB volleyball team (8-13, 2-5 MAC) was prepared to make a statement and move up the ladder in the ever-so-competitive conference after dropping a match to Akron on Friday night.However, Ball State would not let that happen, as the Bulls extended their losing streak to two matches after playing the Cardinals Sunday afternoon in Alumni Arena.

Men's Soccer Prepares to take on the MAC

After a pair of tie games and one more loss to their record, the UB men's soccer team, now 1-4-3 overall, is looking to step up their performance on the field, as well as add wins to their less than stellar record.This weekend will be a perfect opportunity for the Bulls to improve their standings, as they travel down toward Albany today to take on Siena, and then make their way back to UB Sunday to compete in their first MAC game of the season against Akron.The outlook on the Siena game is promising for the Bulls, since Siena has experienced a rough start in their season as well, compiling a record of 0-5-0 overall.

Women's Soccer Drops MAC Opener

Coming in to their Mid-American Conference opener against the Western Michigan Broncos (2-2-1, 1-0-0 MAC) on Friday night, UB women's soccer head coach, Jean-A-Tassy felt that his team was ready for the aggressive match up against Western Michigan."Every game up to this point was preparation for the MAC, the four wins we have had were only a preliminary route for future games," said Tassy.
