MyTurn: Criticism in Spectrum editorial unfounded

Being an outspoken advocate for peace, justice, understanding, I was troubled by the January 24th 2007 editorial "Life in a Fishbowl." First because of how I was misrepresented and secondly because of the suggestion in it that SA (Student Association) officials are not entitled to express their own opinions.The Spectrum falsely claimed that on my Facebook I villainized a group of people, called President Bush the devil, and misrepresented my constituents, without any proof.

To some, a significant financial investment in downtown Buffalo would be characterized as a serious financial risk.Others see it as an opportunity for rebirth.When Scott Fisher and famed recording artist Ani DiFranco first proposed the idea of transforming the 1876 Asbury Delaware United Methodist Church at Delaware Avenue and Tupper Street into a multi-use event center, the abandoned and dilapidated building was boarded up and about to be demolished.

The 11th Annual International Women's Film Festival is crossing boundaries this year by featuring films that highlight the importance of independent film and women's issues, according to Susannah Bartlow, graduate assistant for the Gender Institute.UB's Gender Institute has hosted the event since the research center's founding in 1997, Bartlow said.

Athletes of the WeekFreshman heavyweight wrestler Jason Weber and senior Katrin Fischer of the women's tennis team were named Athletes of the Week.Weber, in his first collegiate match on Saturday, subbed for the injured Jeff Parker and defeated the 30th ranked heavy weight in the nation.
