Bulls snatch victory from talons of defeat

After the game looked to be finished, Buffalo senior forward Yassin Idbihi was granted a second chance at the free throw line with six-tenths of a second left on the clock.With his team down 77-75 to Bowling Green after a lengthy delay, Idbihi drained both shots to send the game into overtime."I was pretty nervous to be there," Idbihi said.

After two more victories this weekend, the women's tennis team's confidence is soaring. On Friday, The Bulls defeated the nationally ranked Syracuse Orange at Syracuse's Drumlin Tennis Center.

The students of Professor Marc Adler's marketing strategies course are gathering used cell phones to benefit the Buffalo Zoo and the environment, but it's more than just good will - their grades depend on it.Adler's course, designed like "The Apprentice," pits teams of students against one another in various projects.

SATV struggles to gain viewers

After four years, the Student Association Television Station is still struggling to gain the popularity they desire.With small numbers of students tuning in on a regular basis, the SATV staff is trying to find new ways to improve their programming, while keeping the content as clean as possible.Several of their shows have already hopped on the reality TV bandwagon as spin-offs of their more popular counterparts.

NYS Legislators: It's time for higher standards

When campaigning for his current position, Democratic Gov. Elliot Spitzer vowed to end the corruption in state government.He won the gubernatorial race in a landslide.Now in office, the former State Attorney General has jumped into action not only to implement his plans, but also to keep the channels of communication and cooperation open with his colleagues and his constituents.Too bad his counterparts in the State Legislature aren't holding themselves to the same standards.After the removal from office of the disgraced Comptroller Alan Hevasi - the man who abused hundreds of thousands of state funds and services for personal needs - Spitzer decided to be decidedly diplomatic.Rather than appointing a successor, he appointed a panel.The group of experts - all former state comptrollers - compiled a short list of qualified finalists for the job.

Saliva, known for writing extremely catchy songs with little to no lyrical value, are at it again with their fourth major release "Blood Stained Love Story." Although they've eased off the rap-rock pedal and are shifting towards a more laid back sound don't be fooled - this is most definitely still a Saliva record."Ladies and Gentleman" kicks the CD off with a boom, or at least a chorus revolving around the word "boom.""Ladies and gentleman/boom/do you want it/boom/do you need it/boom/let me hear it," sings front man Josey Scott.

While growing up, most kids don't dream of someday becoming a librarian.Yelling at students to quiet down and endless orations about how to find a book are some of the unfortunate stereotypes that might lead some to believe it is an overall boring career.In reality, receiving a master's degree in library science can open the doors for a variety of career choices for students from all different undergraduate backgrounds.

School records and top finishes highlight track weekend

Continuing their weekend road trips, the men's and women's track team tacked on several more top notch individual performances, this time coming at the Penn State's Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup on Saturday.The team finish was lower than usual; the Buffalo men finished 11th out of a field of 13 scoring 24 points, while the Buffalo women grabbed the ninth spot, scoring 21 points in their field of 17.

They're a cross between reggae and rock. They're a little bit of Beethoven but more of Queen. They're four talented and intriguing guys that have entered the local music scene: the Czech Mates.Every Friday evening, the four musicians set up camp in a cramped upstairs loft for their weekly practice.

Be your own valentine

It isn't the roses, the random make-out sessions blocking the hallways or the hearts pasted everywhere that's annoying about Valentine's Day.I can even deal with the huge pink displays in the front of every store and the chalky hearts that I eat till I get sick; overall I think I handle the whole forced love thing pretty well.
