UB releases 2022 commencement schedule

Graduate and undergraduate students will be able to walk the stage in person from April 29 to May 22, according to UB’s commencement website. The festivities will kick off the day before, with a recognition for veterans and military members at 145 Student Union. Then, the Center for the Arts, Slee Hall, Alumni Arena and the Student Union will play host to nearly two dozen ceremonies and events.

Students must receive a booster shot to be considered ‘fully vaccinated’ against COVID-19

UB no longer considers students who have not provided documentation of a COVID-19 booster shot to be “fully vaccinated,” the university announced before the semester.

Nikole Hannah-Jones to kick off Distinguished Speakers Series this semester

UB’s Distinguished Speakers Series will resume on Feb. 16 at the Center for the Arts with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones, who will serve as the keynote speaker of the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration.

Students can order four free at-home COVID-19 tests through a government website.

CDS plans to stock The Elli with health and beauty items

Campus Dining and Shops says it is trying to stock The Elli with additional health and beauty items, now that the campus CVS has closed and some students — particularly those without a car — no longer have easy access to these essentials.

The centrally located One World Café will open to students as a place to study and relax at the start of the spring semester.

One World Café, the highly-anticipated three-story international-themed eatery located just outside of Capen Hall which has been under construction since 2019, will open to students on the first day of classes — with a twist.

UB will require students to get tested for COVID-19 before coming to campus

UB will require students to test negative for COVID-19 within 72 hours prior to their arrival on campus, Vice President for Student Life Brian Hamluk announced in an email Friday.

The COVID-19 testing site at the Center for Tomorrow building is one of 10 new testing locations opening on college campuses across the state.

New York State has opened a new COVID-19 testing site at the Center for Tomorrow building on North Campus, one of 10 new testing locations opening on college campuses across the state, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced at a briefing in Rochester Monday.

All SUNY students will be required to receive a COVID-19 booster shot as soon as they become eligible to return to their campus' for the spring 2022 semester, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Friday. Faculty will also be required to receive the jab.

All on-campus SUNY and CUNY students will be required to get a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as they are eligible, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Friday. Hochul will also require faculty to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

UB announces renovations to Kanazawa Island

Kanazawa Island, a tiny island located next to Lake LaSalle, is in the process of receiving “much-needed” renovations, according to a UBNow article. Situated near Wilkeson Quadrangle, the island is a little-known formation on UB’s vast campus.

SUNY red-tapes study abroad programs

Paul Tesluk will step down as dean of UB’s School of Management by the end of the academic year, the university announced in late November. Tesluk will reprise a faculty position as the Donald S.
