Women's swimming wins first meet of season
In its first home meet of the season, the women's swimming team downed St. Bonaventure, 166-132. The win marks the first victory for the Bulls first year head coach Andy Bashor.
Buffalo won the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:48.66. Freshmen Jessica Ballard, Samantha Eckert and Ashley Schaffert paced the Bulls as well as junior Meghan Lafferty. Ballard would also capture another first-place in the 200-yard intermediate with a 2:11.07 finish.
Buffalo also earned the top four spots in the 100-yard backstroke. Ballard notched the top spot in 59.91 seconds.
Freshman Caitlin Reilly captured the first-place spot in the 200-yard backstroke. Reilly touched the wall in 2:08.52. Other individual point winners for the Bulls included senior Kahla Walkinshaw who won the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:10.56.
Freshman Samantha Palma racked up three individual first-places throughout the meet. Her first victory came in the 50-yard freestyle as she flew to a time of 24.75. Palma then came back to win the 100-yard freestyle two events later as she finished in a solid 53.57. Palma ended her night with win in the 200-yard butterfly touching the wall in 58.41.
Freshman Meili Carpenter captured a first in the one-meter and three-meter diving events. Carpenter scored a 278.75 in the one-meter and a 298.50 in the three-meter sweeping the diving as the youngster shows her talent.
Following the match-up with the Bonnies, Buffalo will face-off against cross-town rival Canisius on Friday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. in Alumni Arena.
