Finally, someone at the Spectrum had the balls enough to tell it like it is ("Protesting the protestors," April 7). The worst part about the protest is that with a switch to unionized labor, the janitors that were making low wages will probably be let go in favor of higher-paid union members. So, the people they were trying to help may loose their job anyway, and the cost of labor goes up as well. Good job SAS! How about some more protesting about sweatshop conditions in China, because I am sure that with enough students chanting, China will put a stop to those conditions altogether.
I just wish that they could put their effort towards something a little more constructive -- like lowering our tuition, getting teachers and TAs that speak English (especially in the Math, Science and Engineering Departments), or stopping the monster that is SA.
It's nice to see that idealism is alive and well at UB. However, without the proper mix of realism, your journey through life will be a tough one.
