Viale named to conference all-academic team
Senior Eugenie Viale was named to the 2006-2007 Women's Swimming and Diving Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team. The league's Faculty Athletic Representatives voted her on to the 20-person team.
On the season, Viale holds the team's top time in the 1650-yard free style as she finished in 17:52:70 against conference foe Akron on Nov. 3. Viale also competed in the preliminaries of the 500-yard freestyle at the MAC Championships in Ypsilanti, Mich. She finished in 32nd with a season-best time of 5:15:26.
In order to qualify for this honor, a student-athlete must compile at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA and participate in a minimum of 50 percent of the contests for the particular sport. Viale accumulated a 3.828 GPA while majoring in social sciences.
