Border profiling letter showed ignorance

In response to Mr. Quarantello's piece on border profiling ("Border profiling necessary," Jan. 27). I would like to apologize on behalf of all white Americans. I hope that citizens and guests of this country who are of Middle-Eastern descent, or any other for that matter, do not think that the disgusting ignorance and bigotry expressed by Mr. Quarantello represents the ideas and views of all whites in this country.

This is to let them know that there are those of us who support their struggle and thank them for fighting for the rights taken for granted by so many. When I see the hatred and closed-mindedness like that of Mr. Quarantello in so many white Americans, it makes me ashamed to be one. Again, I apologize on behalf of all of us.
