Weekend weather woes
Because of the city of Buffalo's recent unseasonably chilly weather, UB's baseball team was not unable to complete its game on Friday, nor was it able to start either part of the doubleheader scheduled on Saturday against Ohio. Because of the distance between the two schools, the contest between Buffalo and Ohio will be not be made up this season with the season series between Ohio and UB ending at 0-0-1 on both sides.
The Bulls' next game will be on Tuesday against St. Bonaventure, as part of the Big Four tournament.
Additionally, the Bulls' softball team had to cancel its three-game set against Miami. Originally, the games had been pushed back a day because of the bad weather in the forecast, but the games were all eventually cancelled due to inclement weather.
Again, in this case the games will not be made up.
No rowing in the rain
Following suit with the rest of UB athletics, the women's crew team had its regatta in Cincinnati, versus Cincinnati and Kansas, canceled. The regatta was called due to the rain that was caused by the same storm system that forced the cancellation of most of UB's home events this weekend.
The crew team will not make up the regatta and will instead travel to Eastern Michigan, which is the only other Mid-American Conference school that sponsors a women's crew team.
Against Eastern Michigan, the Bulls will be competing for the Harvey Cup. Last year, in the first annual Harvey Cup regatta between the two teams, the Eagles were able to score victories in the Varsity Four and the Varsity Eight races. The Bulls were victorious in the Novice Eight and second Varsity Eight races. The first Varsity Eight race was the race for which the Harvey Cup was awarded.
