Smaranda Stan named MAC Player of the Week
Junior Smaranda Stan of the women's tennis team was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week after her performance against Temple and Army this past weekend.
Stan won her singles match against Anastaiisa Rukavyshnykova, 6-4, 6-1. She also won a doubles match against Army 8-6. She is currently 15-2 on the year in singles matches, and 6-4 in doubles.
Russell named MAC East Player of the Week
Bulls' softball player Mary Russell was named MAC East Player of the Week after her performance in the 2008 Frost Classic in Chattanooga, TN.
Russell, in an 11-6 Buffalo victory over Marshall, finished with a .429 batting average, six RBIs, and two homeruns. She is also riding a four-game hitting streak and batting .276 on the year. She leads the team with eight hits, seven RBIs, and four stolen bases.
Meili Carpenter selected to Academic All-MAC squad
Sophomore diver Meili Carpenter was selected to the Academic All-MAC Squad after her play in the MAC Championship Meet.
During the season, Carpenter broke her own personal collegiate records for the one-meter event with 330.75 points and the three-meter even with 336.20 points. She will be competing at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships from March 14-16.
Four Bulls named to All-MAC swim team
Junior Zach Ruske, sophomores Connor Vander Zalm, Michael McDowell, and Scott Woster were named to the All-MAC Swim Team. Ruske and Zalm earned first team honors, while McDowell and Woster were named to the second team.
