Wrestling
The Buffalo Bulls' wrestling squad performed brilliantly on Sunday at the Kent State Duals in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center in sweeping their two contests against Kent State University and Mount Union College.
In improving their record to 5-0 (1-0 Mid-American Conference), UB were able to soundly defeat KSU 21-13 and obliterate MU 39-6.
Kyle Cerminara, Ed Pawlak, Mike Trotta, Patrick Lloyd, Mark McKnight and Nick Rausenberger all went 2-0 on the day.
Women's Swimming
The women's swimming team took part in this weekend's US open championships in Federal Way, Wash. The women's 400-meter medley relay team placed 29th out of 41 teams to lead the way for UB. The team of Abby Delia, Jennefer Brankovsky, Kahla Walkinshaw and Frances Stephenson finished the race in 4:32, 23 seconds behind the winners, from Irvine Novaquatic. Brankovsky also took part in the 200-meter breaststroke and 200-individual medley.
Baseball
Five players signed letters of intent to attend UB and play for the baseball team next year. Three of the five, first baseman Chris Ciesla, catcher Ed Folli and shortstop Mike Folli played high school ball together at Union-Endicott H.S. Their team won last season's New York State championship. Pitchers Andy Howard and Tony Kurtz will also be in Bulls uniforms next season.
